Restoring Lost data after format?

To make a long story short this computer is shared and although I consider myself to be carefull on the internet I can't say the same for other younger users on this PC.

Several Trojan viruses crashed the computer and I chose to format the hard drive(Yes it was a stupid move, and in hind-sight I know I should have tried a system restore.)

Now, all my files are lost and I came across a program on this site that showed me all the files that I want. The only problem is that all the programs available are trial software, meaning that I can't actually save any data. I can just see what is available.

If anybody has anything to add that could help me get my files back, or if it is a useless attempt on my part please tell me.

Well, I've installed and ran the program but I'm having problems locating my files.

This particular program works fine but it is not finding my lost files. It is finding clusters. Is there a program that will find actuall files? Songs, Word Documents, Pictures?

    Well,

I'm running the program right now, but I dont think that it can locate the data in 'My Docements' but I'll continue to twirk it until I can find them.

    Thank you Clark_Kent.
