restoring system

Is there a way I can take back my system to how it was at any specific date.... I did some stuff about a week or so ago that was suppose to make my computer faster, but it slowed it down quite a bit, especially in game play (CS). If there is a way can somebody let me know plz. Thanks.

 

you can try system restore (start,accessories,systemtools) but I doubt it will go back that far.

there is a program called goback that some people swear by, that will let you undo system changes, but how back in time varies, and you have to have it installed before you need it. also it consumes a moderate amount of system resources.

norton ghost (or other imaging software) will let you restore your computer to a previous state, but you have to make the images before you need them.

I was in the same position some time ago and here's what I did: I made a clean install of my system with everything on it, I made an image with Acronis True Image and every time my system goes crazy I just boot on the Acronis boot cd and restore the image bit by bit. It takes 15 minutes to restore a 5G image.

 

what program did you install?

EDIT: if any, to make the changes?

 

it was just a bunch of programs, like boot vis, and some other stuff, and some setting changes.... It's some guys site... looked good.... Messed up my system

see if any of the programs have undo facilities and try those
