Does anyone know off the top of their head, of a way to retrieve my windows mail contacts via another drive!?!?

To make a long story short...for some reason my totally legit Vista 5728 install all of the sudden decided it wasn't legit and needed another activation and/or re-enter the key!! Well...it will not accept either of the two of my again, totallty legit, keys so now I can't get into my Vista. So I did a new install on another drive and I was just wondering if, since I can access and retirieve files and folders from the other install, if someone knew how I could retireive my e-mail contacts via "my computer" from the new install??

Can you access the now not activated Vista hard drive Roger as a slaved drive?

IF so then naviate to this location where xxxxx is your user name C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail this folder stores the mail for Windows mail

Contacts are stored in this location C:\Users\xxxxx\Contacts ( copy if you can the whole folder )

Thanks for the help...you hit it straight on Halo!!

I looked around on the slave drive for I bet an hour and a half, and never seen the contacts folder!! I was more geared to the idea that it would be embedded into the Windows Mail directory, so I gues I didn't think broadly enough...but anyway...Thanks Again!!

No probs Roger, this time they made things a little easier to find ;)

Kind of weird you got hit with an activation notice tho, Vista build are as I remember to last until June07 before expiry! I know they testing the activation systems so maybe you got caught up in an update and it flagged up your version, I gained the activation notice and reduced mode a while back though idiot me reinstalling Build 5477 as an upgrade instead of RTM 6000, had to clean install again with correct version that time, but at least I now know what the reduced mode is like if activation has not been done or failed.

yeah...kinda had me baffled to!! I'm just wondering that since you say they were doing something with their activation servers...if maybe I try it again in a couple of days!?!?

The confusing thing though...I used the same Key for the new reinstall I did, as the one I tried for the option to re-enter the key, and it was rejected for the re-activation issue but went through fine for when I reinstalled on a new partition!!
