RETRIEVING E-MAIL from crashed hard drive

The hard drive in my dell inspiron 2600 laptop crashed. I have some important e-mails on it I would like to retrieve. Is that possible? The hard drive is an IBM Travelstar 20 GB ATA/IDE built in 2002. XP Pro OS in dell.

I got an adaptor and tried both a laptop and a pc & both responded with 'corrupted and unreadable'. Is that the end of the line, or is there still hope?

 

When connected to the other system run check disk on your old drive.
