Reverting to win98 from XP and back to Xp pro

I'm having problems with my computer. First my internet went out from some blaster type virus so I restored my computer about 6 times or more but it froze at times so i stopped it and restarted the computer then restored to a easier or undid the last restore I finally give up and one works to a good date before the blaster virus. I go to defrag my comp and i went from 70% of free space to 13% now. I dont have money to buy a proper virus thing so now I need to re-install Xp I tried to in stall Pro from Xp but it says that my version is newer than the version I'm using now so I thought of re-installing 98 then upgrade to pro. I can't install 98 because I have the floppy disk only and everytime I get to the end I get stuck at something it says something has loaded and it leaves me to type something in either help then enter or I type something else in but i dont know what to do. Help please?

 

hmm...youre pretty messed up...i would say to visit the malware removal forum right here at MG, other than that, re-de-fraggin might work, depending on the problem, otherwise backup and format

 

why don't you try AVG Free edition. it doesnt cost a thing and provides decent protection

Just format and install XP Pro.

Set your Bios to boot from CD, insert the CD and reboot, and follow the prompts (don't skip the format).

 

I got ready to back up and Reformat but i can't get to the formating stage.

 

Thanks for the welcome but Bios thing I tried that and it wont come up its when you go to setup and order your drivers i put cd first and its not doing squat only does soemthing with the floppy drive.

Is the CD drive listed in the Bios?

Do you know for sure it actually works?

Try setting the CD drive as the first, then the hard drive and that's it.

 

Well i think im doing format right but i could only get it open on my Drive C but i had to use the win98 start up disc but when i tried to do it on my drive D it said not supported on there but i only see one hard drive in my comp but i always two version selections of xp the other on the c drive has lost the passwords but i want to reformat the D drive so i can use it because of my games and graphical images and music, are the c and d drive 1 or are they seperated into 2 parts?
