Reverting XP to Original Installation

Is it possible to revert my i9nstallation of XP back to its original state, as if booting for the first time, without actually reinstalling? I ask this because my cd drive took a crap on me and if im going to buy a new optical drive im going to go big, which i cant afford until pay day.

 

some computers come with a backed up file that lets you take you system back to factory ship condition. what kind of system do you have ?

 

custom built. i just want to remove everything i dont use. ive removed the proggys i dont use, cleaned the registry thoroughly, cleaned out all my unused files, drivers, and stuff like that, but this thing has been running this install for so long that it just needs reverted.

 

I think so try useing the system restore option.If you dont no how to get there here.Click start menu,Than Programs,Than Accessories,Than System tools.And thn go down to System restore and when a white screen pop's up it will ask you if you whant to restore to an earlier time click the word next than you will have a calendar pop up there are two blue right and left arrows click the left arrow to go back now just to warn you it you must click on the dark blue dates the light blue ones mean you have not checked point your pc at that time in short term it means powering your computer off all the time.But any way just a warning you might loss all info if you dont back up info.And all so some times do's not work right.But works about 99% of the time.
