i just thought of this today: is there any way i could rewire a cold cathode tube(s) to work with a car? interior neon tubes on cars get really hot (the transformer) and ive heard people's cars have even caught fire from them. I thought that cold cathodes would be the way to go since they are made to not produce head, being for computers and all. Any ideas? BTW i dont really have much/any electronic knowledge, at least as far as this topic goes.

The transformers for PC cold cathodes are also known for overheating & Melting or catching fire

I posted a Picture of one in the lounge or interesting links section a long time ago

You'd need a power inverter, they're available but not sure where from I'm afraid.

Have seen a lot of LED's in use lately in cars instead of neons?? I wired my amps using acrylic plates and LEDs and have some in the dash areas. Car Toys may have some products you may be interested in?

Also, cold cathodes are really sensitive to the wiring length and it is real easy to get only half the light to light up with longer lengths of wire.
