Right-Click Black-Out Problem

    Hello.
I discovered a new problem tonight. It first started when I was using Windows Media Player 10 (Besides the quick-play feature, I don't think too much of it and would actually like to return to the older version I had before, but I digress). Some of the controls were literally blacked-out. I exited the player and returned to IE to navigate through other internet sites. Unfortunately, the problem is still there. What happens exactly is that if I right-click on any portion of the screen, the drop-down menu is about 95% blacked-out, and the text only is revealed when the mouse drags the arrow down through the menu. But even when all the text is readable, there are black lines still dividing each menu option.

To be safe and to rule out the possibility, I ran a virus-scan, and no viruses were detected.

Please let me know what this sounds like and how I can resolve it. Thank you for your help with this issue.

Have you tried re-installing the graphics drivers?

    Hello again.
Yes. Two weeks ago when I reinstalled the Operating System, I re-installed all the drivers. To be sure I did it right, I re-installed them again yesterday. I am also having a problem with some pictures not appearing and the issue persists even if I refresh the page.

OK, try this: right click the desktop>properties>appearance> then in the "windows and buttons" pull down menu select "classic"

OR... hit win-key+R type services.msc ... scroll down untill you find the "Themes" service... right click>stop

and then see if your symptoms continue.

    Hello Pyrate,
I tried that and the issue persists. It seems to be an intermittent problem also.

I guess I cannot edit posts after I have left this forum, but I wanted to add to the reply I made before. I seem to have problems with web pages that are graphic intensive, such as at the site MySpace.com. Those pages sometimes take a lot longer to load, and occasionally all of the images do not get displayed. I use Internet Explorer 6.0 as the browser and am running Windows XP Professional Version 5.1 for the Operating System. Thank you for any more help you can give with this issue.
