right mouse click crashes

hey, i have a problem. whenever i right click anywhere inside windows explorer, it freezes.. this only occurs when i right click on blank white space. when i right click on icons, it's usually fine. this also affects my taskbar; nothing on it responds. the only way to get my computer to respond again is by opening the task manager and killing the windows folder, and that takes a while too (task manager lags a bit). anyone have any idea as to the cause of this? thanks in advance.

on a side note, i miss how end process meant end process, and not wait forever for it to end.

 

forgot to mention that i'm running win xp home edition with full sp2 pack installed.

Do you have divx?They had this issue with sp2.

 

i hav ea microsoft intellimouse and no, i didn't install any new hardware. but i do have the divx codec installed, not the divx player though. also, this problems comes and go, it just hasn't gone away yet this time.

thanx, but actually, i'm not sure if i have the divx codec installed, i have xvid installed instead. i tried deleting the divx thing from my context menu handlers, but it's not there. so i'm guessing i don't have the divx codec. these are what i have in the context menu handlers under registry:
