right sound channel not working

Hi All,

I have a windows 7 x64 PC that is totally up to date on patches drivers etc. It contains an OEM Creative Soundblaster X-fi SB0770 and a 2.1 set of speakers.

I recently noticed that the right speaker was not producing any sound any more, moreover when I run the speaker test in the windows sound configuration I can hear a very faint output of the right audio channel coming through on the left speaker.

I have tested the speakers on another computer, they are fine. I have tested the sound card output using headphones and the problem persists. I have also re-enabled the onboard audio of the computer and the problem persists.

I have checked the individual speaker volume in windows sounds and the left speaker keeps resetting itself to a volume of 9 with all other channels at a volume of 10.

I am not entirely sure but I beleive the change happened when a new installation of Flight Simulator X opened for the first time as I can distinctly remember hearing a drop in audio volume of the youtube video I was watching on my second screen. I thought that was due to the FSX menu music but I didn't hear the volume increase again after I closed the program.

Is there a speaker balance control in windows 7 anywhere? I have been looking but cannot find it. I have verified the configuration of the audion settings in both the windows sound control module and the creative audio control panel that comes with the card drivers.

Any help would be appreciated to resolve this.

 

Right click your speaker icon on toolbar>sounds>playback>speakers>properties>levels>balance
