Died this morning.

 

Yes and no.

Some of the stuff he did on his own yes.He did change some stuff.

But not to discredit the man.He did rip off a few ideas from other people.And try to take that info for him self.

 

Still, he achieved a lot in a life of disability, having to fight an uphill battle all his life to simply stay alive. What perseverance! He was a role model for disabled people everywhere. What a brain! It's like someone once said of Tennessee Williams ---- why would he have to write, when all he had to do was to sit around and THINK all day?

 

What an inspiration to disabled people everywhere and showed first hand that even with major disabilities you can still contribute to the world.
His genius is that as a Cambridge professor he shared his theories so that others could could use his incredible knowledge.
It is a sad loss for humanity

Would you condemn Marconi? Because technically you should because Fessenden was inovlved a bit. Marconi didn't "invent" radio, he just got the patent. Edison was a brute of invention, and Tesla possibly had undiagnosed synesthesia.

The oldest definition of "commonwealth" is listed as "archaic". Maybe that's the problem these days...

On Pi Day. I would not be the least bit surprised to discover he did that on purpose.

Newton didn't think up everything on his own either. Being inspired by others is common in any scientific or artistic field. Similarly, losing your chance to get credit for an idea if you don't know how to sell is, is also common.

Stephen Hawking made science cool, technically defeated a brutal disease, and was freakishly intelligent and creative. He reinvented his field of study. The day of his death is perhaps not the best time to accuse him of plagiarism.

 

A great man. I appreciate how he took highly complex ideas and made them palatable for people who are not astro-physicists. A Brief History of Time is an engaging read. I understand some of it.
