How would I go about ripping the audio from a video clip and so I can save it as an mp3?

if you have a decent soundcard you'll have a program called Wav Recorder or something to this effect, change you soundcard settings to "What You Hear" open your sound recorder, hit record then play the video clip..it will record the audio through your soundcard..hope this helps, also, if you don't have a sound recorder i am sure you'll be able to find one on majorgeeks site somewhere.

What type of file is the original video clip? .Avi, .Wmv, .Mpg? I think this might make a difference as to the best software to use.

You can use audacity(free) set it to what you hear.Once recorded you can export as wave or mp3 from file menu .
