ripping streaming audio

Can anyone reccomend any free software to rip streaming audio?

Thanks for these, I dont think this one will work halo as its after a radio station I think? I want to rip from a site. Im unsure about this audacity, dosent seem user freindly, either that or im too dumb!

I just want to record sound as it is playing if you know what I mean, surely theres something where i can just hit record and stop, then edit it with other software later.

If either of the afore mentioned pieces of software do so please point me in the right direction!

Audacity is about as easy as it gets; you start your stream, hit record when you want to start and stop when you want to stop. Save the file as an mp3 or .wav or whatever file type you desire and edit it when you're ready, using whatever software you desire.

Halo, star said he tried that ripcast once (I'm at their place right now), and he said the quality was pretty poor; he said it made everything sound like Peter Noone was singing it

 

He said that's what he did, but Audacity did it in one step, and you know him, he likes everything streamlined.

Oh by the way, he told me to tell you I'm over here trying to get my job back 'cause he got promoted.
