RJ-11 Modem Driver?

My Notebook wont reconize my Modem, how do I find a driver for this? Its a RJ-11 it says male? does that mean dail-up or dsl? Thanks

 

You don't give us enough info.
A RJ-11 is a type of connector (phone jack). A modem is dial up.
What type of modem?

Have you tried to test the connection? usually control panel/ phone and modem properties.

 

Sorry, I dont know much about this kind of stuff, But It keeps saying there isnt a modem installed, but there is a plug in for one, I just bought this notebook used, and I dont know much about it, I took out the old windows in it and re-installed windows xp home, now its not reconizing my modem or the built in camera, the laptop is a sony Vaio fj seires. anything else im leaving out please let me know, Thanks for your help

 

Best thing to do, is turn it upside down, there should be a model number underneath, for example Sony Vaio VGN-FJ150F or something similar. Make a note of this, then go here:

Click on support at the top, then on 'VAIO notebooks' from the drop down menu.

Enter your model number in box 2, or choose it from box 3 if you're unsure.

Then click on 'get drivers/software for your computer'

Choose original software, and look for a modem driver (I scanned through a page, and there was a v92 modem driver halfway down), download and install. Hopefully that should work, then the same for camera.

It may also be a good idea looking at updates for the rest of your system, using the update software option.

Sometimes, reinstalling Windows causes problems, as Windows doesn't recognise every piece of hardware available. Hopefully this is the case here.
