    I want to create a home network between 2 XP computers. Do I use plain RJ 45?

    No, the ones you want are "Keystones". You can get them at any Home Improvement center in the A/V aisle.

    What is the difference between a Keystone, Ethernet, Direct Parallel, and RJ 45?

    Ethernet & Direct Parallel are technologies. Keystone is a term used to describe the connectors used for RJ-45 & RJ-11 jacks.
