Several times a week I cannot connect to the internet. I have an XP/IE 6 with Roadrunner(formerly Adelphia)...The Linksys router is working properly and is brand new. I replaced the old one thinking it was just worn after several years. The modem is working as well and the network connection shows connectivity at 100 mbps.

But I get the cannot find server error several times a week and cannot connect for hours at a time.

I have called roadrunner techs and they tell me the juice is coming in and it is, I can see it but cannot connect to the server.

I have run the troubleshooting several times and have followed all the instructions to the letter and I have reset, unplugged, and went through every cable connection on the computer. All are in place and secure.

Yet, I will still get the cannot find server error and be offline for hours at a time.

The only thing left to replace is the modem. Yet all the lights are on and working. I have contacted roadrunner and if it's not their problem, I get stuck with a hefty service bill but I am at a point that I will pay just to find out what is wrong with my setup.

I am not computer savvy. I am just a mom. thanks

This is what I recieved from rr's tech help so I am going to try this and see if it corrects the problem. Gees, in the good old days we just plugged things in and the stuff worked...now we have to do all this extra stuff with the modern equipment! LOL( and I use to complain about going to the hardware store with my dad when he wanted to test the tubes)...

To ensure the router that is connected to the cable modem is not the
cause of or a contributor to the problem you're encountering, it must be
bypassed. After disconnecting the router and unplugging its power, the
modem must be reset. Do this by unplugging the modem's power cable from
the outlet for two minutes; when the power is plugged back in and the
"Cable" or "Online" light stops flashing and remains on, turn on or
restart the computer. This process synchronizes the information between
our network, the cable modem, and your computer.

If bypassing the router doesn't resolve the problem, please provide full
details regarding the errors or issue you're experiencing.
