Hi, I'm trying to run "Robots" (from the Robots movie) PC Game by VU Games on my desktop, but I keep on getting an error: Robots.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I have un- and reinstalled a few times but to no avail. The game starts, bounces the screen into some low resolution (I'm guessing 800x600), goes through the 20th Century Fox Intro, then comes up with the above error message. The game runs just fine on my newer laptop.

My computer exceeds the minimum specs. My computer: Athlon XP 26oo+, 512MB RAM, Nvidia GForce FX 5500 (256Mb). Nvida GForce cards are listed in the Readme of the game as being compatible.

Other Games seem to run fine on the computer (Unreal Tournament 2004).

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Maybe a moderator will move your question to the "Gaming" forum where it will get the proper exposure?

    Hi

    What Windows version you using?

If Vista then try running the game in compatibility mode for XP SP2, right click the shortcut to the game or its exe and choose Properties > Compatability tab and choose XP SP2 from the dropdown and apply.

Also check the makers site for any updates to this game.

Thanks so much for helping out folks, really appreciate it.

To respond to some of the comments:

I'm using Win XP Sp2. I've tried all available modes but with the same result. Strange thing is that it used to run (very slowly), but then stopped working and now starts with the mentioned error.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a very popular game and I have found very little info & support for it. I'll keep searching though.

I've used the latest drivers for my FX5500 card from the Nvidia site.

Yes please, or else I could re-post it there? But I know that double posting is annoying to everyone....

Thanks again. Please continue to help me. My kids play this game and once it runs on my desktop I'll be a be able to reclaim my laptop :)

What did you change? If it used to run, but now it doesn't, something has happened that makes it no longer run perfectly. Did you update Windows, a driver, change your hardware...? Do you have a recent restore point you can try?

Excellent question that..... I think the last time it ran (very slowly) was before I had to do a complete WinXP re-install. My system crashed somehow and I did a complete clean re-installed of everything, using the original and/or sometimes updated drivers. So, no - no restore points for that.

Thanks again for helping out. Please keep suggesting things.
