I gave my Sister my Roku DX Streaming Box.

And she has it in her Bassment witch is Above Ground.

She can get Netflix Hulu Tunein Radio everything.

Now she always got YouTube and it worked good also.

Now when she goes on YouTube it takes a long time to open and when it does it only stay at the Home screen for 7. SEC. and then goes off and back to Roku Home screen.

But it does this with just YouTube.

So I Removed YouTube from the Roku and Unpluged the HDMI and Power Cords for all Day.

Then I Pluged them Both back in and Re Instlled YouTube.

    The same thing happens.

So then I went into the menu that give you the option to pick the Bandwidth you want.
I took it off Auto and put it on 1.5MB.

    She has High Speed Cable.

    And this did not work.

But like I say she has Hulu NetFlix Tunin Radio and a little other Apps and they all work Great.

So do you have any thoughts?
    Thanks.

Did you activate your YouTube Account on Roku?

Try restarting it using the Systems menu

Settings > System > System Restart

What do you meen she has been useing the YouTube App she never had an Account.

And she just would look up Free stuff and it worked.

You do not need an Account to just use the YouTube App on Roku.

    Or am I missing something?

Just make sure you adjust the settings in this device. It can and will eat up data like crazy if left on.If your current isp has a data cap make sure you set it accordingly.

I had an issue like this with one of my Roku's and stopped using it due to this current issue.

    Directions from Roku:

Part 1: How to Watch YouTube on Roku
    • Step 1: Connect Roku to your TV and add to your WiFi network. Then login in to your Roku account first.
    • Step 2: Add YouTube channel. Use the search function and type in YouTube channel. ...
    • Stpe 3: Activate your YouTube account. ...
    • Stpe 4: Pair Device. ...
    • Step 5: Enjoy.
Access the sign in to YouTube account link via Roku and it will pop up an 8-digit code to activate your YouTube account. Just sign in to your account using a laptop or Smartphone and enter the code to link your Roku with your YouTube account.

My Sister has No YouTube Account she just was useing YouTube Free to lookup Videos.
And it was working but not now.

And even if she did have a YouTube Account it does not let you do anything.

It opens to YouTube screen and stays at the Home screen for 6. SEC.
Then goes back to Roku Home Screen.

I know what you meen you Open YouTube and then go to Link Device or Sign In but it does not give you a chance.

I did set Roku to 1.5 MB no good.

But even when I had YouTube on my Roku I could use the Free YouTube App.
But this wont let her use YouTube at all.

And even if I open her a YouTube Account it does not give time to go to Link Device.
And it stays on the YouTube Home screen and you can not move.
Then after 6. SEC. it goes back to Roku Home scree.

I gave you the instructions for adding a channel to Roku. If you don't want to follow it, so be it.

I know you gave me steps to get the YouTube App and Activate it.

And yes I got the YouTube App on her Roku.
But she has no YouTube Account to Link it to.

And even if I get her one it wont give me time to Pair it with her Account.

But let me start from this point.
My Sister has been using the Roku with the YouTube App.
Even though she has now YouTube Account.

And it was working for a long time.

And I just got my YouTube Account and for Years I also used YouTube on my Roku as well.
And no you do not need a YouTube Account to just use the YouTube App I did it for Years.

But I will check the Roku Settings.
But the only thing is every other CH. on Roku works.

Let me ask when you say go to the Roku Settings and Reboot do you meen Reconect?

    OK thanks for the Link.

Now the Roku my Sister has was my Roku and I did get it around 2010 or so.

The Roku says "DX" on it and it is HDMi.
And like I say when I had it I used it for YouTube and it worked great.

Do you know if the Roku DX is the one that does not support YouTube?

And I am going to try the Setting in Roku because like I say it did work for me all this time. And then when I gave it to my Sister she was using YouTube and it worked.

    Thanks for the help.

I go into the Roku settings then Network and the signal strength is GOOD.

And I whent to settings again and then System then RESTART.

So I did the reboot and after this she opened YouTube and the menu worked and she can play YouTube videos.

It plays anything for about 20 sec then goes off and back to the Roku Home screen.????????????

The link I provided for the Roku forums addresses that exact same issue.

Apparently, one of the work around solutions was to go into settings and change it from HD to SD.
