rolling back...

I have a sony vaio... I updatd my BIOS and chipset through the intel website, the only significant difference is that windows loads faster, but it came with problems. Sonys programs won't run now, is there anyway I could roll back to the old BIOS or drivers?

 

Since this is a SONY VAIO, I'd install the bios downloaded from Sony's website.

Sony installs a lot of proprietary "junk" into their computers. So, pretty much don't install any driver, except from Sony.

 

Yes they do, I'm on my second VAIO. I think they are great PC's once you get rid of all the crap they come pre-loaded with.

With more RAM and a better Video card you can really extend the "playable" life of them.

 

does yours have all the vaio media center services and crap, that gives me nearly 10 processes alone, how did you stop all that if you did it's such a pain to have to end them all.

 

All gone. I had reload everything when I got a new HDD awhile back. I just didn't reload everything via the restore CD's, and then even continued to delete/remove things until I was happy and left with what I wanted (basicly XP).

Once that was done and I was sure things were working well, I proceeded to load the programs I did want. You're right, all that Media crap and Sonic Stage are a pain.

 

is any of it worth it, I'm thinking of just sticking with this BIOS and maybe reloading windows in the future, and just getting rid of everything sony gave me
