    Hi guys,

First of all i would like to say a very big thank you for all the help this website has given me, without it i would have been well and truely stuffed.

My PC was acting very strange, IE not working properly, Chrome redirecting from google searches, BSOD everytime i tried to run virus scans.

I then found this site, ran through the read me first thread and using TDSS killer found: rootkit.win32.tdss.tdl4

I believe i have killed it but would like to have my logs checked now, how done everything that read me first, google redrirect and vista malware removal threads have advised to do.

I should also add that the items that Superantispyware found were cleaned, and sasw rerun and all clean - cleaned log attached in next post

Please could someone look at my logs and tell me if im all clean now.

    Many thanks

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Yes TDSSkiller appears to have taken care of your problem. Your logs are clean.

You jsut need to finish the below final cleanup steps and get your PC properly protect ( which is in the last step ) as you have no protection right now.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Many thanks - i can not thank you enough.

Now to re-instal my protection - think i will switch from AVG to COMODO now and see how that works.

Hi again - sorry to be a pain.

I decided to install Comodo AV and Firewall rather than AVG Av after being hit by the root kit.

After running the first scan with comodo is showed that i had 58 virus detections - all listed as rootkit. they appear to all be reg entries

I have tried to clean, quaretine and disinfect the 58 items but Comodo states it is unable to clean them.

I have done some research and think that these could be from legitimate programes, Pinnacle Systems for example (per my research) hides registery info in a root kit manner.

Due to my research i also uninstalled all Pinacle Systems programe and any others that i no longer use - re-ran a scan but with the same results.

Ran both TDSSKiller and MBAM - but came up clean

Im attaching the scan results from Comodo.

Please can you have a look and see if i still have maleware.

    Many thanks.
