Rootkit Hugest Problem

This covers more than any other problem I have read about with rootkit. I though it was my cd rom but its not. I thought it was me but its not. I didn't think it was rootkit. But I have the latest Our Lady Peace album, I put it in and then no more albums seemed to appear after that. Copied ones did but only a few random others did. I thought it was something else. But then I gave the album to someone else and now the same thing has happened to them! The problem. The computer shows that it reads a CD, but something is stopping the album from appearing on my computer, on iTunes, on anything, I am dying for help on this one, I have tried everything!
