rootkit/malware major problem

I have google chrome as my search engine however when I click on the google search icon I am getting google.com/webhp. I have ran two malware softwares and they find nothing. My updated Kapersky has found nothing. I have ran hackthis and I can't find a thing. I have used other forums advice and still I can't get rid of this parasite. I've tried to run GMER scan and it stops in mid run. I am at a loss. I have done everything I know how. Do I have to take my hard drive in and have it erased and reloaded???? This is totally unbelievable. Is there anyone out there that has had this problem and managed to get rid of it?
