Just out of pure curiosity, what do you pay for a dozen or more roses where you live? I think they are a bit steep here, at $1.25 each, and no discount for quantity...rolleyes How about anyone else? :confused

Nothing, I grow my own.;) Dunno what Florist prices are over here, but they're pretty steep.

Yeah right your buying 24.99 here for dozen red roses here. If on sale it goes to 20 bucks.

Where I am, a single rose on sale could be about $5 to $7 dollars and $10 dollars fresh regular, depending on the type of rose you want. For a dozen roses you could pay about $50[on special] and up to $80 to $100.

There are so many varieties that one could buy a dozen roses that are just as pretty as the classic ones for about $75.

It is quite steep, but ladies do like roses and so do I ;)

I think $1.25 sounds cheap! Wow

Around here, a dozen roses (from a florist) will cost $50. During Valentine's day they are $75.

I suppose you can go to the grocery store here and get a dozen of the really small ones that never really bloom for $14.99 (I think I've seen).

Welcome back Laura, haven't seen you around for a while. I don't know what roses cost around here, but I think I sent my mom a dozen from the office before for about $40 with a vase and everything else. I wonder if there are any places that give you bulk pricing, like for weddings or anything where you might need hundreds.. It's odd though, you can buy a rose bush for about $20 I bet, and have an endless supply.

Yeah I guess I didn't mention what you get. But mine for that price was grocery store lol. But if you go to (really nice one one around here) kind of business .. its really high like you guys said, but it is pick and cut and trimmed and made very nice. My good friend mom actually has worked there so many years and is very good.

I don't remember the last time I bought roses. I like Phantom, have my own bushes. I think the grocery stores here have them for about $11-30. depending on the breed and how old they are.(that's for 12)

    Just took these yesterday

Beautiful, bigtrucks. :) I tried to grow regular traditional roses and they never made it, so the only ones I have are my knockout shrub roses that are no maintainence and really pretty, but don't lend to well to cutting.

Thanks, Pax. Good to see you too. :) Hubby and I were away in Aruba for a bit. Had a great time and got back at 3am last night thanks to wonderful Philadelphia airport.

Glad you had a great time. I've never been to the airport down there, but I was at a McDonalds, and I hope they did a little better than that place. LOL

Depends on the type, quality, length of the stem. They usually run $5 ea for a long stem
and there is no break on the amount (1 or 12). That's what the growers charge the florist.

At a florist shop about 10 miles from me, they're going for
$19.95@dozen. That's wrapped in plastic with no vase.$35-40 in vase.

I always tell my husband to never waste money on roses for me. One, I just don't think they a very original gift for someone and two, I'd rather have something live I can plant in my yard for that amount of money.

    I love receiving roses :)

Roses are my fave flowers especially on Valentine's Day because it is my B-Day... But I usually receive a dozen or more about every other months or so. :)

Was playing with you. There are so many flowers that last longer then roses and the don't have to be carnations or mums, lilies, long lasting.
OK don't laugh or go ,what ? But some of the best arr. I made had no flowers at all. Seeded eucalyptus is beautiful, so called fillers, very nice.
I think the only flower that last less then a rose is iris.
My shop, had flowers, plants, balloons, wine, offered gourmet foods, toys, bath sets, lingerie for Valentines day ;) and lots more , You can not depend on flowers alone.

No, I leave the 'groveling' to the experts rolleyes. I was just being nice;). Can't send a for-real flower, so I send a cyber one. Hey, at least it doesn't wilt, eh.

I used to buy my wife the silk Roses and other flowers. No smell, but last forever. :hyper

[Edit] Autumn here, so my Roses are in full bloom, a.t.m.....Yay!
