    Hi there,

I have an Unex ISO50s Router and an NTL cable modem 1mb. I have connected the modem to the Ethernet WAN Port and three PC to Lan ports. But none of the pc's has a connection to the internet. I had installed to all pc's the NTL software and I connected to the internet with each pc separetely. Then I installed the router with its default configuration and following the user guide. All the ip are given from the router.
I cannot understand how the pc is going to communicate through the router with the modem.
When I ping my ISP I have a reply from the gateway(router) but the final destination is unreachable.
    eg:

    Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128 : Destination unreachable

Is there anyway you could help me please ?

Sounds like your router is not getting an IP from the ISP.

    Is your IP static, or?

in most cases once you a cable modem up to a computer, it remembers the MAC address of that computer. Unless the host is cleared from the ISP, you won't get a conection. In most router's there's a place where you can clone a MAC address instead of using the default of the router. Another thing to look for is to make sure the router is configured for DHCP. Do all the computers show up in Network Places (neighborhood, depending on the OS) and do they all have IP addresses following 192.168.1.xx? Just a few things to look for in hopes of narrowing the problem down.... hope it helps

You are pinging a private ip

Sounds like you are not connected to your isp. ip address 192.168.1.1 is a private ip address. So if that is all you are pinging you are not getting out your own network. The ip address for your router should be the one issued by the internet provider.

true, if you're pinging 192.168.1.1, you're only pinging your router, not your isp. you need to contact youur isp and ask what IP Address they have listed for you, and if that address is static (constant) or dynamic (changes automatically every so often). Then you have to make sure your router is configured to accept it. If you open IE and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar, it should take you to the admin site for your router. Look in the manual that came with it for the login/password. If the IP from your ISP is dynamic, the manual will tell you how to set the router to get IP automatically using DHCP. Also, like I said before, you may have to clone the MAC address from the first computer you had the cable modem hooked up to. Easier yet, if you have to contact your ISP anyway, tell them to clear the host on the modem for you.
