my internet works when connected directly to the internet modem, but does not when the connections goes from modem to router to pc. i am using a linksy router and it has worked before. When i say this i mean it was working perfectly fine for a whole day under that setup, which is why im so confused.

all i tried doing was protecting my network and messed with some settings on the setup pg.

even after a reset the wpa prtoection would not work so i just gave up.

next day the connection was just gone.

    any fixes?
possible router replacement needed or should i contact my internet provider for possible errors first?

If this is a cable modem, each time you change the first device connected to it you need to restart the modem so it will read the MAC address of the new device and pass the external IP to that device.

Generally I shut everything down and unplugging the power to the modem and router and then start things in sequence. First the modem and allow a minute for it to boot, then the router and allow it a minute to boot, then start your computers.
