i have a belkin wireless router on my home network. the firewall is enabled but how effective is it in protecting my net? I've visited the set up pages but, compared to my comodo internet security, it doesn't seem as protective.

one more question, regarding my wireless pci card; which network authentication and encryption is the best?

as always thanks a ton for all the help:clap

You are comparing apples to oranges.
The router is a hardware solution to the firewall while CIS is a software solution.

The strongest security for wireless is WPA2 AES encryption. If your router and wireless card support the use of this, the use it.
Both have to be set to the same encryption level to work. If you have additional devices on wireless, they all need to be set to the same encryption level. An older device would be the limiting factor. If it only supports WEP or WPA, then the whole wireless network would have to use this level to keep the older device in use.

In Addition to what had been highlighted by IBmest, disable SSID broadcast, this will add an extra security on your WLAN.
