I'm trying to access my router to improve its performance, but I'm finding that I can't even access it after navigating to the ip address listed in the instruction booklet. A Log in Box comes up and I type in the username 'admin' and then leave the password field blank as the instruction booklet (for the DI624 DLink Wireless Router that I have), but it won't let me through.

Plus the DLink Utility program won't load even after I've unchecked the 'Allow Windows to configure my networking for me' dialog box.

    What could be happening?

Try to hard reset the Router so it would return to Default.

BTW. There is nothing in a Router setting that can change its preference.
