Router is blocking only one site...

I have having a unique problem that I have seen others describe but not found any answers....

My parents computer will not load my moms work email (https://mail.oraucoc.org) unless you take the router out of the mix. I have tried lowering MTU, changing to OpenDNS, new firmware, tracerts, pings, nothing seems to point to an answer. I even had mom purchase a new router and get the same results. When the computer is straight to the cable modem the site loads fine. And the site loads fine here at my house with my router in place.

Any one know of a solution?

    TIA

  2. Right so a little confused, under what scenario does it work and what scenario does it not work?

    Computer>router>modem>site=No load

    Computer>modem>site=loads

    Computer>router>modem>proxysite>site=loads

Have replaced router with brand new router, clean installed, same results. It has to be some sort of IP or Subnet issue that I cant seem to figure out.

I wish this thread had been successfully completed, as I have the same problem -- one site that will not load. (Actually, the initial site loads; I log in and can view my account, but I can go no further -- history, summary, etc.) Grrr.

Sorry I had posted this question in several places. Hard to remember all of them to go back and update.

I did enough pings and trace routes to prove that I was making it out of moms system and into the system at her work. After forcing them to better consider that it may be an issue on their end, they found an error in their MAC filters. She works for a government facility and have some pretty strange security in place on their end. After they corrected their mistake, she is now able to log-in to her work from home.

If you have any contacts for the site that you are having trouble with, maybe send them a trace route and let them see that your making into their system and that its getting blocked at some point in their servers or firewalls.

Thanks for the help and suggestions I had received.

Thanks for the quick response. I'll give the company another call and see about trying your method. Thanks so much.

No problem. I know how frustrating it can be to trouble shoot some of these issues. Have you tried going thru a proxy? Try this one, www dot CensorshipBlows dot com

    I'm unsure how to proxy...

It seems the one I listed before has been shut down, Try this one instead,

    http://www.unblockbook.org/

You just type in the site that you are try to access. And browse it through the proxy.

Hmm... is it safe? Won't I be transmitting sensitive login information to some place that might be viewed by...? Sorry, but I've never had the need to proxy before?

Umm Not the safest thing in the world no. The few times I have done it to trouble shoot, I always use it just long enough to test, then I log in from my normal browser and change the passwords.

Guess I'd better leave the "proxy" idea alone since this involves a lot of sensitive data. Thanks again.

Have you tried removing your router from the setup? When I put moms computer straight to the modem it worked fine. Just a suggestion. Also, Have you tried from other systems? Also have you tried using your system from a different connection, Like a neighbors wifi or something?

Tried straight to modem - no load
Tried other PC - no load (This may have to do with settings being transferrred from one PC to the other since one is a backup PC -- backup in loose terms, that is.)
Tried daughter's new PC connected to my router - LOADed fine

Ok so that helps narrow it down to your system.

Have you cleared cookies, and cache, etc?

Tried a different browser, such as Chrome, FireFox, and IE?

Sorry so slow to respond; I was again trying to load via modem (without router) and had a different experience. It loaded one more page than usual but that's it. (I mean I can actually login, view initial page with lots of personal data on it. This has been as far as I could view for some time. Then this time it let me see the next page of withdrawals and went back to login again.)

Yes, I have cleared cache dozens of times.
I tried Firefox without success, but it has been a while.
    I have not tried Chrome.
I messed around with MTU, but didn't really know if it did anything since I'm on Vista and understand it sets automatically.
I've reset router, reset modem, reset, reset, researched, researched...

Re: IE is blocking only one site...

Thats good. IE8 has some pretty hefty issues, IE9 is coming out soon, hopefully they have corrected most of them.

I use Firefox for most everything any more.

    Glad your humming along ok.

Re: IE is blocking only one site...

Thank you for spending so much time and energy on this. I only wish I'd posted sooner. Just didn't want to go through doing the "Read and Run First" because I had done that not long ago and was clean. Just crazy... don't know what setting is messed up, but I'll keep Firefox this time instead of uninstalling it. Thanks again. This is the best site I know of for this sort of thing.
