Router or Wireless Adapter?

I am having intermittent connection problems(slow, not working at all, etc). I suspect it is my router because another person in the same household has problems as well. Is there a way to tell which piece of equipment is having the problem while it is going on that doesn't involve swapping one of said pieces of equipment?

    Thanks

First, I would check the Internet speeds using a PC with a wired (Ethernet) connection. If you have the same issues using a wired connection, the problem is likely either with the modem or your service provider. If this is the case, contact your ISP - they will be able to run remote diagnostic tests to try and isolate/fix the issue.

If the problem is with Wi-Fi only, do both wireless devices have problems at the same time? If so, it points to the router.

    Hope this helps.

If it does show as a router issue try up dating the firmware, may save you from buying a new router. Also try flushing the DNS though doubtful effecting two machines, click All Programs, click Accessories, right click on Command Prompt, select Run As Administrator, in the command window type ipconfig /flushdns then hit enter.

It is certainly not the wireless adapter.
