Router Recomendation?

We currently have a Netgear WGT624 router in our house (secured, and I've never seen unrecognized people on attached devices, so I'm sure it's not our neighbors.). We are facing many issues with it and we need some recommendations for what router would be good for us.

The Netgear router goes into our Comcast modem. (I know, I know, but it's the best we have here.)

At almost all times we have a family computer, and our vonage modem connected into the router. The family computer is over wireless and vonage is a direct connection.

During these times, we hardly ever have problems with this.

However when we all want to use our technology on the weekends and ect, we will have the Vonage modem (direct) xbox 360 (direct) family computer (wireless) laptop (wireless) connected into it.

When we are all using it our router frequently "crashes" and the only fix is to reset the router.

This is an annoyance and we can't have this anymore.

We need a recommendation for what would be a good router, that could provide us with a good secure connection, and most importantly a fast one. We want our wireless to be fast. Currently we can only play xbox through the direct line to the router, if we try to go wireless the router crashes.

We need a recommendation that can suit our needs for multiple users, yet still providing good speed. I play a lot of online games, and I want those to be able to work efficiently. (As they currently do not, unless I connect the laptop right into the router, an annoyance.)

I don't know really what's good on the market right now, and I'd like some advice!

    Thanks!

P.S. I'm sure it's not Comcast, because at my dads house with his service, everybody is happy dandy even when 5 or more people are using the service wireless.

I don't think it's comcast either. I had a the same router and had 6 computers, a security camera , and xbox and a NAS device connected to it and never had a crash or a slow down and yes it was connected to comcast. The only difference I see is I had comcast phone service not vontage. The problem is probably a faulty router. I've never had a problem with anything from netgear, but electronics fail all the time. Everyone has their favorites so you are going to get a host of opinions on this subject.
My opinion is I hate Westel I haven't found a model from them that I like.

you may also want to check if there's an update for the netgear router, as they may have fixed an issue with the problem you are having.
