Router Will Not Reset

I have tried doing a hard reset on my d-link router, but it doesn't seem to work. The status light remains on (should be blinking) and the 11g light remains off (should be on). I also cannot access the router configuration using the original IP address and password after the attempted resets. I have also tried killing the power and turning it back on as well, but no luck. There is no internet connection available on the computer that is connected via ethernet cable to the router unless you bypass the router. Any suggestions? Does this mean the router is toast? The network/router has been functioning perfectly for about a year prior to this incident.

 

Take a pen or another pointed object and hold in the reset button for a minimum of ten seconds.....once released, all LED's should cease for a few moments until the router resets itself and all lights up again!

Does this occur?

If you cannot access the router config at the WAN interface with 192.168.2.1 then it has to be a matter of incorrect or faulty hardware setup!

 

The lights never go off when I hold in the reset button. I can feel it click so I know I'm getting it depressed sufficiently.

 

Apparently, it depends on which model of D-Link router you own. Some models require you power off, press and hold the rest button and power on. When certain lights on the front (M1and/or M2) go from solid on to flashing, release the reset button. Check your manual or the D-Link support site.
