I was Wondering if i should turn on some option in my firewall for Advanced
Detection Prevention... i see some option that i dont know what they are and should i turn them on. The first option is i see is ...
1: Decrement IP TTL for forwarded traffic <<Turn This On Or Off
2: Never generate ICMP Time-Exceeded packets. <<Turn This On Or Off
The Router i have is a TZ 2010 Wireless Router SonicWall:cool

That's a pretty decent business environment firewall, are you using it at home??

have you read Sonicwall's explanations for the settings here? If you aren't having issues, no need to change them. They deal with packets that have been in the network too long and the reporting of the packets that the firewall drops for being in the network too long.

If you are going to be adminstering this firewall for a more advanced environment than a home network, I highly recommend taking a sonicwall course. Even without the certification or getting too advanced with it, there are a lot of great functions and options that you will benefit from understanding.

I have 3 sonicwall firewalls at our various locations that are professionally managed by a team of security experts with several security certifications plus they've been in networking and computers for decades and are a nice group of guys.
If it makes you feel any better, i see those attacks all the time too. They are stopped and the team says they are ok so I have to trust them.
Keeping the licensing up to date is going to be something to watch, but Sonicwall has been better than the Watchguards that i'm phasing out in that regard.
