I have win7 and Comcast WiFi Router.

I always connect my Router to my Desktop with an Eathernet.

Just to get the best for my Desktop.

At first I coulhs only connect with the WiFi.

So I click WiFi Icone next to Clock and then click Disconect.

    Then I plug Eathernet in.

    It still did not conect.

I went to Controle Pan the Internet options.

I was going around but I see no Wired Setting.

But I must have hit something because next to the Clock it says Connected.

How do I make shure my computer is not useing the Onboard WiFi and just my Eathernet port?
More or Less I want to Disable my Onboard Wireless and Enable the Eathernet port.

    Thanks for the time.

You didn't give us any information on your computer. But you should be able to go into Device Manager, find the wireless adapter and disable it. Or go into the BIOS Setup Menu and disable the device from there.

    I have a Dell insperon 660.

I did click on my Internet icon next to the clock and click my Comcast network in the list.
    I then click Disconect.

Then it Disconects me from the internet.

Now as soon as I plug the Eathernet cable in it should just hard connect.

It does not so I look under my Adapters and just frind Wireless Dell and Microsoft Wireless 2.

    I see no LAN.

Before I would always just Disconect from the wifi then plug in my Eathernet.

If it is the Dell Inspiron 660 then it definitely has an Ethernet Network Adapter, in fact is has both - Ethernet and Wireless:
    Networking
    • Data Link Protocol

Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11n
    • Compliant Standards
      IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11n
    • Wireless NIC
      Dell Wireless 1506
    https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-inspiron-660-core-i5-3330-3-ghz-monitor-none-series/specs/

You need to open up Network Adapters in Device Manager by clicking on the arrow beside it.
Right click on what is shown above > properties and see if it says it is working.

My advice from above remains the same. After you disable the driver in Device Manager, you should reboot. If you disable the device in the BIOS, you will have to "Save and Exit" and that will automatically reboot.

Biferi can follow that advice but there is never any need to 'disable' a WiFi adapter for an Ethernet connection to work. If the Ethernet adapter is working, and the cable is plugged in when the system is booted, it should connect automatically, though if it requires a PW that has to already have been set.

    :( Nobody suggest that, Max.

If you read what the OP asked for you will see he said,

    OK let's make this simple:

I have just shut down a laptop that normally is always connected via WiFi from the router.
I plugged the Ethernet cable from the router to the laptop, restarted it and it connects to the internet via the Ethernet cable, automatically.
If Biferi leaves the Ethernet cable plugged in to that system, it will never connect via WiFi.

Take into account that Biferi seems to be saying, erroneously, that the Inspiron 660 doesn't have an Ethernet Network Adapter - it does unless the OP has uninstalled it, or in properties it shows it as not working.

    :(
No where is he saying anything of the sort. He has made it clear, several times, that he can plug in an Ethernet cable. He's not plugging it into his ear!

Re-read post #3 more carefully since that is exactly what is says there.
Anyway, nothing else can help the OP until they establish whether the already inbuilt Ethernet adapter is working or not. It's that simple.
And to clarify the other error, you did tell the OP to disable WiFi when that's not needed and if there is no Ethernet adapter would be totally pointless advice anyway.

Come on Max! In NO wheredoes he say that. Why are you making things up? We can read exactly what he said. And he said, and I quote,
Instead of digging yourself deeper and deeper, Max, try this. Say,"Biferi, sorry! I made a mistake. I did not read carefully what you were asking for, in post 1 or 3."

Then note when he said "I see no LAN" he is talking about in Device Manager, Max. LAN and Ethernet Network Adapter are not the same thing.

I'll leave you to it but the posts are very clear. The advice is simple - checking the Ethernet Adapter is working or not.

That Dell model does have an Ethernet Adapter.
The OP says in post #3 they see nothing but WiFi adapters so don't try and play games with words like 'LAN'.

If you want to argue the toss - go ahead but I'm finished giving the OP what is the only and fully correct advice.

Ok let me start over I am sorry.

The last time Comcast came out to replace my WiFi Router I did not have my Ethernet pluged into my Computer.

So they just Click on the Internet Icon next to the Clock and Picked my Network name and I entered my password and it connected with the WiFi.

Then after they left I wanted to use my Ethernet Port not the WiFi.
So I clicked on the Internet Icon next to the Clock and picked my Network name and clicked Disconnect.

Then I plug my Ethernet cable in and it connected.

Now when I had my Router replaced again by Comcast they pluged it in and told me I had to click the Internet Icon next to the clock and pick my Network name and Login.

But I do not want it to connect WiFi so I did not do this.

I plug my Ethernet into the computer and the Router and Nothing.

If I go into Device Manager under Network Adapters I see.
    Dell Wireless 1506 802.11b/g/n 2.4 GHz
    and then I see
Microsoft Virtual WiFi Mini Port Adapter.

    But no LAN Network.

    Whare did it go?

Under Other Devices I see Ethernet Controler
    and
    USB Controler.

    1. It is nothing to do with a LAN per se, unless you failed to create such a network connection to start with or since then you, yourself, have deleted it. If you didn't create one to begin with, or deleted it, then NOW you need to create one.***
    2. It is to do with your system's Network Adapter for ETHERNET.
    3. That will show in Device Manager when you open the arrow. If it doesn't show, then somehow it has been UNINSTALLED and removed.
    4. Look at the SPECS for your Dell system - it came pre-built with an Ethernet Adapter - if it did not have one you could NEVER have connected by cable.

*** To create a LAN now plug in the Ethernet cable, go to network and sharing and choose 'create a new connection'

Nobody is playing games, Max. But you (1) are not reading what the OP is saying, and when he does say something, you read more into it.

NOBODY, not me, or the OP, said no adapter is installed. What he said was he only sees wifi listed under device manager. He has indicated several times now that he has an Ethernet port. That clearly indicates an Ethernet adapter is installed (likely integrated with the motherboard) and that he plugs his Ethernet cable into it.

So contrary to your silly PM, it is you who are not following what the OP is saying, or what he is asking for, and needs to apologize for not understanding.

@biferi - what is happening is Windows is not seeing the Ethernet adapter, apparently, for some reason.

What I recommend you do is disable your wifi adapter in Device Manager. Then make sure you have a "good" Ethernet cable attached to your computer and to the router. Note these cables are cheap, low tech devices and not very robust. They can be damaged easily so if you have a different one, you might even try that. And I have several several routers where an Ethernet port has gone bad. So you might try a different port too.

Then shutdown Windows and unplug the computer from the wall for about 15 seconds. This will remove all standby voltages any allow plenty of time for any residual voltages to decay enough to release any settings. Then connect power and boot the computer and see if your router picks up your computer.

You will not see "LAN" in device manager (if I remember W7 correctly) but you should see some device listed under Network adapters. Under mine, for example, it says only "PCIe GBE Family Controller". GBE stands for "Gigabit Ethernet".

In Control Panel under Networks, you should see your active networks. Hopefully, it will only say Ethernet.

One thing before I try what you say?
I did unplug my Ethernet from my Router and Computer.

Then I click on Internet Icon next to clock and pick my Router name and click Disconect.

    Then I shutdown computer.

Then I plug Ethernet into Router and computer.

    Then I startup computer.

    The Internet Icon say Connected.
And if I click it I see my Router Name and if I click it it says Connected.

So if I am right this is telling me my WiFi is still Auto Enabling right?

Please tell me before I do what you say?
    Thanks to all.

Describe the internet icon. Is it bars like on your phone or is it a little computer screen?

    Anon-fe04a256cf Anonymized

    It is Bars.

And if I do not have my Ethernet connected to the Router and the computer I am not online.

So I click the Bars and a list comes up of all the WiFi Networks around me.
So I pick my Routers name and click it.

Then it says Connect so I click it.

Then it asks for the Password so I type it and I am connected.

OK so I know this is my Computers Onboard WiFi.

Now if I click the Bars and pick my Routers name and click it it says Disconet so I click it.

Not I am not connected to the WiFi and the internet.

So then I shut my computer all the way down then connet my Ethernet to the Router and the computer.

I power the computer up and look at the Bars and they say Connected.
So I click the Bars and click my Routers name and it says Connected as well.

I thought this ment my WiFi was Engaging?
But is this my Onboard Ethernet Engaging?

OK I got a new Ethernet cable.

I went into Controle Pan. then Internet Options. thenm Network And Sharing.

I Disabled Microsoft WiFi and if I Disable Dell WiFi is this the same as if I do it in Device Manager like you say?

Not sure how Dell does things - they like to do things their own way. My "guess" is the Dell option is for their drivers. Regardless, try it and see what happens. You won't break anything, and if need be, you can always enable it again.

    OK
I clicked on the Bars next to the Clock and it brings up a list of Routers.
I click on my Router and click Disconect.

Then I go into Device Manager and go under Other Devices and Un Install Ethernet Controlor.

Then I power down the computer and unplug it.

So I did what you say.

When I pluged it back into the wall and powered it up the Bars say Connected.
    So it Engages the WiFi.

And I see no iEEE in my Device Manager.
So am I right I have now Ethernet Driver for my Ethernet Port?

You say you have uninstalled the Ethernet controller, so of course you no longer have it.
