    ~ Keep your router's firmware up-to-date
~ modify your system's network/bandwidth related settings (if you know what you are doing or using a good utility)
~ Keep your system free of spyware
~ Kill unneeded services and processes (especially those that use bandwidth) during network use.
~ Make sure the cable you use for network is in good shape, good quality and not exposed to magnetic field, heat, radiation (ok kidding about the last one but you get the point!) ;)

I was in a pc store last week and i can't remember what the product was but you connected it to your router and the whole connection would speed up between your computers and routers. If i find it i'll post it...

that router will be NO faster than his currently Linksys router is. He's not using wireless, so wireless G vs B will change nothing.

elementkid07, assing yourself a static IP, and Map your DNS servers (part of the static IP process). also you may want to run a bandwidth configuration tool on your computer to adjust for a high bandwidth connection.

I know he is still using wired but its still a faster router. I know because I have both and have done tranfser rate tests over the two to determine this.

Sorry I'm going to have to agree with Colemanguy on this one, I've found that this router is faster than other's and also performed tests and this won, sorry!

Guys, not to debate but look at the initial post, does he want to replace his router or find a more practical, more cost effective way to improve his current setup?

Of course each different wired/wireless router could have a different performance, better transfer rates, more/less features but the point is no router could technically improve the bandwidth given by the ISP any better if the download/upload values are capped by the ISP. If replacing the existing hardware is not an option then tweaking the system's and/or related application's network/bandwidth settings would be one of the easiest and most effective ways to go about improving the connection performance.

PS. also read my initial note. ;)
