Royal Noir XP Theme

I came across this link http://www.istartedsomething.com/20061029/royale-noir/ for a new XP theme. I wanted to try it out, got it downloaded to my desktop, however now my computer says that it "cannot open this file" when I double click to open it.

I've been having problems with different file extensions working, would this be part of the problem? I believe this one was a .rar ????

Hi Oooops!

Try getting WinRar (What I use) or HooperDave's recommended TugZip (Uncompresses many more types of files) off this download page http://majorgeeks.com/downloads17.html to extract the downloaded .rar file and follow install instructions from your link.

Winrar adds itself to your context menu, so you can right-click on the .rar file and choose "Extract to royale_noir" and then move the new royale_noir folder to c:\windows\resources\themes\ and go from there.

 

I'll try your suggestions for the .rar file, thank you. However, I forgot to mention, if I'm having trouble with many file extensions not opening, is there a download I can use that will help with this problem or is it something that I have to fix one by one as I come across them?

Never had a problem with file associations before. Had the computer reformatted and XP reinstalled recently, ever since then, I've had these problems.
