rs232 transmission

I am trying to connect windows xp com 1 to a wire edm machine rs232 port
machine receives in msdos. tried using hyper terminal. Program shows it sends but it is not received by the wire machine.

 

Hi, You might want to check and see if the machine receiving the data and the computer is set the same. (Data Bits,Parity, Protocol, Speed, Stop Bits, and Handshaking) They have to match on both or it will not work.
What DNC software are you using and what control is on the machine?
I might be able to help you better if I know that.

 

all data is the same we are transferring with bobcad or trying to use hyperterminal the machine is a dos based.

 

The easiest and most reliable way to do what you are trying to do is with DNC software. Hyperterminal does not open and send files to the control with the start and end comands correctly in all cases. I'm not sure if BobCad has an add-on or built in DNC program lots of the cad-cam software does. I currently use Multi-DNC it is very inexpensive. I use this to comunicate with 3 different controls on a windows xp computer and Dos based CNC Controls
