Does anyone here subscribe to the MajorGeeks RSS feed using the Brief addon for Firefox? I do and it doesn't seem to work properly. Some things show up and some things don't.
Here are some images that show what I mean:

The first is the RSS feed and the second is how Brief sees the RSS feed.
I don't know what causes it but I subscribe to a lot of feeds and this one is the only one I have noticed doing that.
I uninstalled Brief from Firefox and re-installed it and added the MG feed but it still did the same thing.
I notice there are the title, link and description tags in the feed. If I could make a suggestion it would be to add pubDate and guid tags as well, as in my experience they have worked very well.
I'm not telling anyone how to run their website, I just think it would fix this problem that I'm - and maybe other people are - having.

Good question... I'm not sure if I can answer that, as I use google for all my feeds and my homepage.

It should be easy enough to implement into the xml generator. The guid can just be the same as the link, and the pubDate is easy to format. In the SELECT you just add something like this
    Code:
    UNIX_TIMESTAMP(date) AS date
and something like this (adjusting for the array and column names of course):
    Code:
    <pubDate><?=strftime( "%a, %d %b %Y %T %z" , $result['date']); ?></pubDate>

I just tried it - worked perfectly on my system.

Maybe I need to uninstall Firefox then. How fun :cry

Ok that worked. So in case anyone else runs into that problem you need to uninstall Firefox, delete the preferences in Documents and Settings (the Firefox folder in Application Data, you should back up that folder too because it contains everything you ever personalized about Firefox, you can just copy and paste selective parts of it when you install Firefox again) then re-install Firefox and re-install Brief.

I have been using Brief since a couple of versions ago so I suspect it was a result of a bad update. A fresh install of version 1.1 works fine.

Still wouldn't hurt to add those tags to the xml feed though, as I understand it they are best practice.
