hello everyone. I'll preface this by saying that i don't have a clue what i'm doing in this subject, so please talk slowly and explain stuff.

I'm a longtime firefox user, and i've recently switched to google chrome, for purposes of stability and especially for flash performance. So far it does just about everything firefox used to, but i miss one behaviour.

When I subscribe to RSS feeds in fireflox, i picked the default reader (no clue what an RSS reader is or does) and selected to put it in my Bookmarks Toolbar. This gave me a little constantly updating folder of bookmarks for that feed in my toolbar, which i used to check daily for the latest news (very high traffic) and a few art sites, webcomics and video series', which were all relatively low traffic.

The bbc news feed that came default in (probably uk version only) firefox was what got me interested in using this feature, and i've no experience of it outside of the folder-in-toolbar format.

I can't seem to get this functionality working in google chrome at all. iirc it comes with four readers, i tried them all and none seemed to work the way i'm used to (or for that matter, work at all as far as i could figure out) so i'm a little lost. can anyone explain a bit on the subject?

    Hi

To start with RSS feeds are basically links to stories from sites you like, and more info HERE

as for Chrome and RSS, you may wish to read the info HERE and the app to handle feeds for you. It will add the small orange RSS icon to the right side of your address bar just click to get options like import and manage.

You may see when you go to a page with RSS feeds when you hover over the RSS icon a mention of the number of feeds available just click the name of the feed and it will be added, you can open manage up and copy and paste the RSS feed into the Add Feed option or in some cases just drag and drop the webpages RSS feed icon to the Chrome RSS icon.

    omg yaaaaay ^_^

This does the job nicely! Checking them seems slightly slower than the toolbar method, but it does take a lot less screen space and it's comfortable.
