run out of space HEEEELP

hi there please can anyone help me. i am so dumb at all this. my computer is a 3.00GB. it has 2.99GB left and 1.71 MB left. how do i make more space. hav deleteted just about everything on computer but still no room. hope to here from someone real soon

 

how many hard disk do you have in your system?

physical ones? logical ones? do you have a c:\? a d:\? e:\?

Just because you deleted it doesn't mean you removed it off the hard drive. Empty the recycle bin to fully delete it. Windows keeps the files on the hard drive just incase you need them back.

 

Do you have 2 hard-drives installed, because from your description it sounds as thought you do. Althought probably you only have 1 drive installed. A 3 Gig drive is rather small nowadays so maybe you should take the advice from Wizard and buy a larger drive. Failing that take a look in your windows temp directory and delete whatever is in there as this is only temporary data and can be deleted safely. Depending on the operating system you are using you reach there a slightly different way. The address of the the Windows Temp directory for A win95/98/Me system is C:\Windows\Temp and for a Win2000/XP system is C:\WINNT\Temp. Press the Shift Key before hitting delete and the Recycle Bin will be bypassed and the data will be removed permanently from your hard drive. Althought bypassing the Recycle Bin is risky when deleting files, these files should be OK to delete. Use Shift-Key Delete at your own risk. After all that, the space you will gain is probably minimal, so a larger drive is the best advice. Anyway you've learnt a few things about deleting files. Good luck!.
