run time error 156

    I'm sure that this is probably been on here but I can't find it.

    When I hook up my hard drive and try to install an O/S on it I get runtime error 156, and then it freezes up on me..I have even tried to set it up as a slave and when the comp comes up it goes to the blue scandisk screen and tries to scan and it freezes up there.. I have even tried to run the diagnostic that Seagate has has and still nothing..The H/D is a Seagate .Any help would be GREATLY appreciated..thanx
