When running a computer all day long(and using it) does one have to refresh memory or dump temporary files,as sometimes my computer seems to take a long time to download stuff?
    Thanks

Most systems can run all day, but some more info might help here too. What are you downloading, what OS are you running, who is you ISP the more info the better.

I leave mine on 24/7 for weeks on and there are no problems. I would look more to the site that is streamimg or your ISP. Do a few speed tests over the course of the day to see if it's your ISP.

An occasional reboot is a good idea, as is running a good temp file cleaner from time to time. CCleaner is a good one that's been popular and highly recommended for a long time. As long as you keep up with your general system maintenance (read this guide), leaving the PC on for days at a time shouldn't be a problem. However, if you live in a dusty/windy environment, you'll want to power down and take the PC outside and hit it with canned air or an air compressor once every 4-8 weeks to keep it clean inside.
