When I defragment my PC I use Glary Utilities and I always do it in Safe Mode. Why? I can’t answer that because I don’t recall when I first did it or my reason. I’ve simply always done it since. But, now, I’d like to ask whether it’s a good or bad idea or, even, if it makes no difference. Should I continue to run Glary Utilities disk defrag in Safe Mode or not? I’d appreciate reasons for your answer. Thanks in advance.

Defragmenting the hard disk in Safe Mode is a good idea, simply because fewer files are in use.

Some 10+ years ago I used a disk defragmenter that ran prior to Windows booting. The result was a perfect (0% fragmentation) hard disk.
