Hi, I just bough a lenovo thinkpad T430 and plan to install all of my old games.
    My specs are:
    Intel core i5 3210M 2.50GHz
    4.00GB of ram
    windows 7 64bit
    Intel HD graphics family
    1696 MB graphic memory
    64 MB video memory
And 4.9 in the windows evaluation thing.

I've installed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 and has some problems loading textures, at first it didnt load them at all, after I installed the demo for Crysis which has directx 9c I think it started to load them, but it still has some problems loading the textures of some planes.

I also have Age of Mythology gold and it runs fine but some of the minor textures like fog and shore lines tend to load after a minute or two.

Do they run like this because they werent desinged for Win7 or is it something else.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi

The best thing to try is to install the games in Compatibility Mode for say XP, and also run them in that mode also, you can do this using the info below

First, right click the installer and choose Properties then Compatibility Tab and then choose from the dropdown Windows XP Sp3 and then at the bottom Run as Administrator and install, then once the game as installed right click its shortcut icon and choose properties and then again the Compatibility tab and choose Windows XP SP3 and Run as Administrator and see if the game runs.

I think in the OP he specified Win7 64 bit.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much on being able to run older games on a new O/S. I lamented to high heaven when XP wouldn't play most of my DOS based games, regardless of the compatibility mode. I know there are some good emulators out there for DOS based games, but an emulator for XP games??

Also it might not just be the O/S. It could also be the hardware that came with the laptop. That said, I was shocked to find that my ASUS laptop with Win7 did play my old Silent Hunter 2, that would never play on my XP system.

Sorry to say, but part of the problem is your grafx. Intel HD series is very poor with games as it is on board chip and sharing with the cpu. It is designed to play movies in HD and low spec games, etc. Crisis, a few years old, still has very high specs to run. I believe most of your problems are due to rendering problems of your on board grafx.
I must also say, many old games have patches you can download from there sites to run in 64 mode. Most Vista patches work for win 7. Last week i installed Sid Maurie's Alpha Centaury . After a few legal patches, my Win 98 game plays perfect!
So in the end, I recommend playing less grafx taxing games for now, and remember most older games have updated patches to run on win 7:major
    I sure hope this helps:)

With Intel Graphics you can completely forget Crysis, surprised it even loaded, as Jaz said, the on board intel GPU wont run much in the way of games, I speak from experience here.

You might try installing "Game Booster" available on MG's, it may help a little.

i dont think MS flight simulator works on 64-bit computers, maybe with win7 32bit it would run, but i dont think you can get it to work decently on 64-bnit
