Running out of things to try

I've run out of things to try, and I'm just wondering if someone else has been in this position and knows another step that i can take.

First some background information: Hp Pavilion p2 Series, Model: p2-1033w running windows 7 home premium.

a user has brought this computer to me with "issues" after further investigation i see the hard drive is dying and fast. to reinstall i asked for their system disks. they don't have them because they never created the disks off the recovery partition. i check HPs website and they don't sell a recovery disk for this model.

now i know i could just install the new HD and install a copy of windows 7 home with a purchased license key. though i would like to save the user money. is there any way i can get the recovery off the dying HD? thanks in advance for any help or encouragement.

 

If there is any life left in the old HD you should be able to clone it to a good HD using http://majorgeeks.com/EASEUS_Todo_Backup_Free_Edition_d6195.html but because it is free it is a bit slow so a bit of luck is needed.
