Running Sfc In The Administrator Mode

    When I directly open SFC I can right-click on it and select the administrator mode. But if I make a shortcut to it on the task bar, I don't have that option. I did check its properties but I could not find the option to run it in the adminstrator mode.

    So how can I run SFC from a shortcut on the taskbar and have it run in the adminstrator mode?

    Properties > Shortcut > Advanced > Run as administrator.

    Thank you. I tried that, found the Run as administrator checkbox, and checked it. Now when I click on the shortcut I made for SFC (and I placed the shortcut on the desktop) all that happens is a window flashes for about 1/10 second and then... nothing.

    When I then opened the Task Manager and looked at the list for Processes I could not find any listing for SFC. I checked twice because I tend to overlook things on the first go-around.

    Not sure where the problem lies. Can you help some more?

    SFC with no switches just shows the help contents. You'll have to supply parameters to get a certain function. Add /scannow in your shortcut properties page. Or whatever switch you need.

    Look at the Target box.

    @the skeezix
    Why do you need a shortcut to SFC on the Desktop or Taskbar?

    I wanted the shortcut so I wouldn't have to hunt for the sfc app. But now I can't remember why I wanted to run it in the first place.

    Besides, I just ran sfc.exe /scannow and I get the same results - a window opens and then closes almost instantly. Appears as though I have another problem, and I'll be checking it later this morning.
