I was having lots of popups, but successfully solved that problem by going through READ ME and following the steps. Somehow during all of this, my Quickbooks has stopped working. I cannot open it and get the following message: Microsoft Visual C++Runtime Library: Runtime Error! Program:C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooksPro\qbw32.exe abnormal program termination. I deleted nothing manually--only those "bad things" scanned with the various programs were deleted by the program itself.

The computer is a Dell Inspiron1150, Mobile Intel(R)Pentium(R); NTFS file system; 2.66GHz; 1.60GHz, 256m of RAM; Windows XP Home Edition OS.

I have brought the laptop home from work for the weekend to try to solve this problem. My boss is almost having a heart attack, as all Accounts Payable/Receivable, Payroll, and Inventory for the company are in Quickbooks. Yikes!!

Please help--it wilol be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

My suggestion for this problem: You might want to try installing (well, reinstalling actually) the QuickBooks program, apply any updates to the program that may have been applied before, and then open your company data file.

Here's how to do this [Note: You'll need to have the QuickBooks Install CD-ROM handy]

    (1) Exit all programs that are running on your computer.
    (2) Important: Restart your computer FIRST. If you don't you may incur problems
    (3) Insert the QuickBooks CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. The Installation window will open.
    (4) At the message "QuickBooks has detected that QuickBooks is already installed," select the Reinstall option.
    (5) Select Express in the Choose Setup Type window and follow the onscreen instructions.
    (6) After installation is complete, start QuickBooks, and then exit the program. This action will initiate any updates that were previously installed.
    (7) Click: Yes if a message asking to install an update appears.
    (8) After the update has finished installing, reopen your company data file.

If this does not work; try contacting QuickBooks Support or QuickBooks Community or their Forums for help. If you no longer have; or have a damaged install CD; you can get replacement CDs [which costs about cost $20.00 per program, plus shipping and applicable sales taxes].

If you don't have a recent backup, can you make a copy of your company file (the one ending in .qbw) and burn it to a cd.

I will try to reinstall tomorrow at work.

I was able to copy all the files to CD--I checked if they're there on my computer. However, I do not have QB on there, so couldn't see if they would open. None of the QB files will open--they all give the same error message.

So...do you think a file got deleted in all the scans I ran? Like an .exe file or something?

BTW, we did call QuickBooks and they told us that for $299 they would help us. Needless to say, we say "no thanks".

Thanks for your quick response and I'll let you know how it goes.

Disable AVG and see if it opens.
