Runtime errors

Good afternoon geeks,
Running SP Home SP3, and recently two programs have inherited run time errors. The dialogue is not very specific saying only a run time error has been detected and the program must terminate. This occurs during Nero Vision start up and Comodo System Cleaner start up. Since the problems have occurred I've uninstalled, deleted remaining registry keys, and reinstalled the programs but still get the same error, so I am not convinced that it is the fault of the program. I know of the msconfig approach to selective restarting with a few programs at a time, but if I know the specific programs, is there anything program specific or registry specific that can be done?

 

Have you tried looking at the event viewer for any leads? Start > Run > type eventvwr.msc

 

On the Nero issue I've been working with Nero and all they can advise is uninstalling and reinstalling so I know I have current versions. I ran it just now to see if it triggered an event and there is an entry under system that refers to DCOM as the source of an error at the same time. Another recurring error under application reads "Net Runtime 2.0 error reporting" and this occurs frequently.

I will start checking all plug-ins, etc. Would this include Firefox and IE add-ons and plug-ins as well?

 

I just noticed looking through Add/Remove Programs that there a two versions of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package installed. The error message I referred to above is in the header titled Visual C++ Runtime Library. Could this be the problem, conflicting Runtime libraries? Should I uninstall the older version? As I recall, runtime libraries are sometimes installed by applications.
