S 510 Keyboard not working but Mouse is

ok so I've had this wireless keyboard for years and its NEVER given me any trouble
until today
I tried moving the PC into the living room area so I could get internet on it but when I get to the password login the only thing that works is the Mouse and the Keyboard doesn't work at all except the shitty little Stand by button on it and the CONNECT button
I've tried every trouble shoot Logitech has given me and nothin works
help me please?
I mean I NEED to get into my PC and I can't unless I have my keyboard to type in the damned password
so please help me out guys

Being wireless, interference is the first thing that comes to mind, have you tried moving it back to the other location to check if it works there?

if it does then you have to find what is causing said interference and rectify it

and it STILL doesn't work just the damned stand by button
and it pisses me off cause I need my music and Film work that I made on there so I could possibly have a job TwT'''

 

This may sound like a dumb question, but do you have another keyboard you can use? Maybe borrow one from a friend? That would also help narrow down the problem to either keyboard or computer.

Along the lines of the other thread mentioned, if you have tried a usb keyboard, have you also tried ps2, or vice versa? Just throwing stuff at the wall

 

well it uses an adapter to PS2 and im wondering on how to open up the BIOS to check and see if thats on or not, how do ya do that?

 

Well, you're not going to want to hear this, but you have press a key or combination of keys on startup. Mine uses F8, others may use something else. Usually a screen will flash telling you which key to press to enter startup.

If I understood your last post, you are using a usb keyboard with a ps2 adapter. Does this mean that you don't have a usb port?

 

I do have a USB port but it came with the adapter so i've been using it ever since

 

Try it without the adapter. It's a long shot, but stranger things have happened.

all that works is the damned stand by key and home key(turns PC back on from Stand By)

that didn't work either

 

Do you have more than one usb port? Might try that.

That really doesn't make sense though. If you've already tried ps2 port and one usb port, it's not likely that another usb port would work.

When you say 'stand by key', is that on your keyboard? If so, the keyboard may be working. Have you tried starting in safe mode?

 

do you have a boot disk of some sort?? have you tried safe mode??? a boot disk will allow you to get to the control panel and device manager...also it may work in safe mode

yeah the Stand By button and Home Button are on my Keyboard and those are the only buttons that work and I don't have the boot disk and Idk how to get to safe mode, how do ya get to it ?

That may be true, but it should work in the usb port,unless it's bad too. (knocking on wood)

You said your mouse works. Is it usb also? If so, you know that usb port works. Try plugging the mouse into a different port and the keyboard into the known good port.

 

USB is fine
I know this cause if I plug a USB based item in the ports I hear the BING
and well I tried reversing the PS2 inputs and nothing

 

It's looking more and more like it may be a port or motherboard problem.

 

yeah I think it may be the motherboard thing is no one makes my motherboard anymore and now I need to know what Motherboard would be able to run my shitty boo boo stuff

 

Was the other keyboard you tried a normal ps2? if not try and get one to test with.

I know this might be a silly thing to ask but did you restart the PC when you plugged the other keyboard in?

Wel, if i start my PC without the keyboard [ps2] plugged in, i have to restart to get it to work, give it a try if ya havn't already.
