my computer hardrive has failed a SMART test(part 7 The "read" portion). =/
i can boot it up, but cannot get into any OS,system restore, or recovery console. The only thing i can do is access bios. I have to hard reset my computer every time because it goes into an endless reboot cycle(which im not really worried about and i do know how to end)

is it possible that im screwed and i need a new hard drive? i asked some local techies and they said data recovery may not be an option.

This all happened when i left Windows Washer on to do its thing. Washing free space and all. I put it on the highest setting for kicks(i thought my computer wasnt that shabby). It ran all night and i was suprised that it was still going in the morning. So i just exitted out and then i decided to game a little and my computer crashed..x.x. now im here in the present..HEEEEELP. please

Part 7:

I can't imagine any software program causing this problem (since its purely mechanical).
My guess is that it is a coincidence that you were running Windows Washer when the drive developed this problem.

It may be possible to recover some of the data from this HDD but that is far from certain.

Thank you a lot for your info, i guess this means i have to dig out some money for a new computer. I needed an upgrade anyways.
