Safe MediaPlayer?

Guys,

Given all the security problems with Windows MediaPlayer and Winamp, what player would you recommend me to install?

Asus, I need a media player, not a firewall etc. I already have most of the security progs you mention.

 

what he's saying is you can use WMP as long as you have good security.

Minimal but Nice

Hey - thanks Star! I like to experiment with something 'lil less ordinary (which often lands me into trouble!...but then you know - where would progress be without some pioneering spirit huh? Although my good friend once pointed out the quote:
"You can spot a pioneer by the arrow in his back " ),

so I will testdrive the two you recommended. I am into 'comfortable minimalism', so would ideally like to use a player that is not brimming with unnecessary gizmos that I'm never going to use and that just hog my computer resources, but at the same time adequate to handle most form of visual and music media that is likely to be sent its way!

Of the two you suggested, which one do you think best fits the comfortable minimalist approach?



Has anyone heard of BSPlayer, and if so what do people think about it? - any good???

Visual media?

I've tried your suggestion re quintessential. Nice prog, but I'm looking for something to play video files as well as music (I'm a newbie to these things, so you gotta excuse me if I say something obviously stupid ) and I can only get MP3 files to play on quintessential. Can someone suggest something good for all types of media playback?

I LOVE iTunes, and I am on a PC.... it does everything I want...
Has no problem handling my 30Gb of music files'

I LOVE it...

I found that with Winamp, it was a pain to organize my music.
I sort mine by Genre...

I like to create a random playlist by genre then save it for later and iTunes does it perfectly
many really cool features...
You can create a rule in your playlist so it won't play the same song in a certain amount of time..
ie: don't play a song again for at least 2 weeks, etc. etc.

 

He is after a video player as well

Itunes comes with Quicktime 6.4

 

Personally im not a fan of quicktime.
